The path of vocation

There’s going to be things in life that get in your way of what you’re trying to achieve, its often at these moments that you will want to quit. Its around this time all your friends and family are going to tell you to stop, to play it safe. Go to college, get a job. You may want to listen to listen to these voices, this is when you will need to dig in deep and remember why you started, because that’s the only thing that will keep you working towards your goal.

The path to success; the path to something meaningful is hell and you will not get there unless you have a strong reason as to why you started, but never give up because your goal is worth every second of time you put in. If you give up on your goals and dreams then you didn’t want them that bad. the universe has a way of weaving out those who don’t really want their goals but say they do. Sometimes success is just sticking with the grind when other people are letting go, so stay on that rough path and it will be worth it. You will start to see success.

Interview with M. Curtis McCoy

On April 20th I interviewed M. Curtis McCoy, and he gave me insight and advice that has changed my life.

The first question I asked him was “what got you into the entrepreneurial world” and for us to understand this story we need to go back to when he was in college. He originally studied aviation technology in college, he got certified through NASA for doing ultra high reliability soldering. He quickly realized that this job was not for him. “This is not my dream job, so I left the electronics and stuff” so shortly after he realized that he did not want to do anything with aviation”shortly after I got out of college I realized this is not the career I wanted to pursue.” so once he realized this he went on to his next business venture shortly after. “I probably had 12 different side hustles going on at the same time trying to figure out which direction I wanted to go in life.” During this time McCoy was doing personal training and fitness, so this gave him an idea to start a fitness group called, This group had around 29,000 active members. This group was made years ago so back then that was a fairly large amount of active people in a group. He ran a health company, as well as a medical research company, owned a cosmetical laser franchise, he also had a landscaping business. He even went into the clothing business, he was running all of these businesses at once. There’s no doubt that McCoy is a very hard working and motivated character to look up to. His biggest company that he still runs to this day is known as “But I massively failed at a whole lot of things as well.” McCoy may have started several successful businesses but not all of them have been hits, just like everything in life, you cant succeed without the failures in life. What matters is taking those failures and hardships and turning them into success.

Disaster strikes

While McCoy was doing all of these business ventures something very unfortunate happened. He was diagnosed with brain cancer and was only given 60-90 days to live, that was back in 2010, luckily those doctors were in correct and he is still around to tell his story. He lost everything and was sleeping on his parents floor on a deflating air mattress.

The cost of success

“I wouldn’t recommend this, it made for a terrible life for a long time” ” life sucked, anyone that wanted to hangout or drop by, it was because they knew about the money” success comes at price. You’re are going to have a lot of people that are fake and don’t really want to be your friend, they are just there for your success and money. You’re are not going to have much free time on your hands, McCoy was working six and a half days a week. Putting in 18 hour days. “People only see the success when you’re at the top” another thing is people don’t see all the failures and trials you go through to get to where you are, they only see the success portion and that’s when they like to call you “lucky” or “gifted” when that’s not the case at all. “don’t let success go to your head” McCoy then starts talking about how he used to be a little cocky and felt great about everything, until he was diagnosed with brain cancer he then realized that stuff happens and this event humbled him. ” Just be careful with getting to cocky” when he said this it got me thinking, because I’m an up and coming entrepreneur, i have a couple different revenue streams coming in and my social status is starting to grow. It starts to get to your head and you start getting a little cocky, so sometimes you just need to remember to humble yourself and remember where you came from.

McCoys current goals

Right now McCoy is focused on motivation as well as writing books. His biggest group right now is a group on Facebook called Success, Motivation & Inspiration. I would defiantly recommend going and checking the group out and joining it. It provides daily motivation as well as if you’re going through a rough spot in your life there’s plenty of people to be there for you and help you through it. They are growing pretty quickly. “I always loved inspiring and motivational groups” when asked what encouraged him to start this group, he just left it once he started getting a little success and “I guess you could say I thought I was the man” But as McCoy was going through his cancer, he had the chance to save someones life. He was called early in the morning one day, from a guy who was in the process of committing suicide. McCoy was able to talk that guy out of suicide, because of this group that guy is still alive and successful. McCoy’s current mission is to just motivate people to follow their dreams and goals and consume positive content.

New purpose

So I haven’t written on this website in awhile, and that’s because I have been busy trying to grow my brand, I also re-branded as well as giving my brand a meaning. My brand now has a purpose and a reason to its existence. My brand now raises awareness for teen suicide, it also provides motivation to people, I want my company to be associated with hope and motivation. I was interviewed by an entrepreneur by the name of M. Curtis McCoy, he cought interest in my brand and decided to live interview me on Facebook. I have started selling clothing at to really help this brand grow, I want to make sure my message gets out their and to let them know their is hope out there, and whatever they’re going through; they’re not going through it alone, I want to try to unite people because I feel that has been lost in today’s society.

Over the next year I will be focused on growing this brand and letting people hear my message, I have created accounts on every social media platform to try to reach as many people as possible, I will start speaking in public places and doing interviews to grow this brand and get my message out there that there is hope, and people will pass through the storm they are going through, as well as motivate them to follow their dreams and do what they want to achieve in life. I will try and write 2-3 blog posts a week, so please follow so you can stay updated on my journey to greatness.

Never Stay Down

This is one of the many important topics to me. In life you’re going to get knocked down several times trying to do something, nothing worth having is going to be easy to get. You’re going to have to fight for it and that is going to include you getting knocked down over and over again. This is when most people give up and quit pursuing their goals because an obstacle gets in their way and they just give up, rather than pushing through it. This is why most people in life settle and work a 9-5 busting balls for someone else.

I’m a young entrepreneur, just barely turned 18 and I’m trying to make a name for myself. Currently I am trying to start up two companies and I have had several set backs trying to achieve this, but I have a strong desire to make these work so I keep going no matter what gets in my way. One of my companies is an apparel company, I contacted and talked to 23 different suppliers trying to get the product I wanted for the price I wanted. It was really frustrating after each failed attempt with each of the suppliers I felt as though I would never be able to get this apparel company because there weren’t going to be any suppliers to give me what I wanted. I was ready to give up until something told me to just contact one more retailer; and it turns out they had the material I wanted and would be able to sell me the product for the price I wanted, because I didn’t give up I will be able to pursue my dream of having an apparel company because I didn’t give up. My other company I am trying to start up has been a little more challenging because its in even more of a competitive market then clothes, but I’m learning everything about it so I can get ahead of my competition and get a loyal customer base.

The lesson I’m getting at here is if you give up because you’re not seeing progress or not making the amount of money you want to be making; you’ll never achieve what you wanted because you gave up. If you fail just try one more time and try something new, and repeat the process until you see results or get it right, persistency does pay off, if you keep going at it and learning from your failures it’s going to come to you. If it were easy everyone would do what you wanted to do; but they dont because its not easy. So quit putting it off and get after it.

Introduction to the blog

Welcome to the elevated effort blog, I’m an up and coming owner of a business and on this blog I’m going to talk\write about the importance of keeping yourself happy. As well as learning how to achieve that and how to stay positive; as well as helping other people and elevating them to a higher level of happiness because if we are able to make other people happy, its proven to make us feel more happy and feel like we have a sense of meaning in the world. Because when it comes down to it, it doesn’t matter how much money we made through our lifetime. What really matters is who we helped and how many people we helped because that’s what peoples will remember you by; we remember people by how they treated us, not the kind of possessions they owned.

I will also be talking about the growing passion for entrepreneurship and how there is no better time to be an entrepreneur then now. With the internet and all the other opportunities we have at our fingertips.
